“J.T.”

21-15-9 reps for time of:
Handstand push-up
Ring dip
Push-up

“J.T.” is a hero workout that we don’t do terribly often but that has tremendous value when it comes to improving pressing strength and endurance.

It’s a workout we don’t often do because it contains so much movement redundancy. Here’s what I mean by that. Typically we program workouts that have within them some sort of complementary movements, a push/pull, or a squat/run things of that nature. What the complementary nature of these workouts allows for is more constant movement and therefor a more potent stimulus.

That doesn’t mean that all of our workouts should feature only complimentary movements, but the majority should. Hence the infrequency with which we employ the redundancy seen in today’s WOD.
