Clean and jerk

We talk a lot about keeping the barbell as close to the body as possible in movements like the clean and the snatch. The video above is a fantastic illustration of exactly what we mean. Pay specific attention to how much Lydia works to pull the bar into her thighs as she’s standing up. There’s nothing passive about it, it’s a super active, deliberate attempt to pull the bar in and keep it as close to the body as possible.
