Over the course of the last few days, we received confirmation that we are doing things right at CrossFit SAC. As many of you probably know, we had a handful of participants in some local competitions over the weekend. Not only did we have a great cheer section show up, it was probably the biggest and definitely the loudest at the competition. In addition, on more than one occasion, our group of competitors were complimented on their quality of movement. Apparently, we have a reputation as being a “technical” gym. We will gladly take that as being a positive quality. However, at the same time, we can’t help but ask, we are “technical” as opposed to what? But then you only need to go so as far as YouTube for an example. This is another gym doing today’s WOD.
There’s a lot of stuff going on in this video that wouldn’t fly in our gym. The goal here isn’t to bash another box, but to demonstrate that not all gyms care about the same aspects of training. Good or bad, we have chosen to pursue excellence for all of our members and not just get as many people in the gym to make more money or to build a “competitive” team while everyone else is ignored. We care about the quality of the product we produce and that product is demonstrated with every single person in the gym. So while it may be tedious at times to go through the Burgener Warm-up or review the deadlift yet again, remember that we can all use a review, even Games competitors and Olympians work on technique and that this drilling makes you a better athlete.
We will continue to deliver the best quality product we can, you guys continue to show up and support each other, in side and outside of the gym!
