You know how we are always talking about using the hips to do work? There’s a reason for that, the group of muscles we refer to as your hips are much stronger than your shoulders and arms. Sometimes it’s hard to trust that your hips will do the heavy lifting for you, which is when we start to see early arm pulls during Olympic lifts. Sometimes this movement fault (technically called a “core to extremity violation”) can be hard to see (or feel), other times it’s pretty apparent, like in this commercial (wait for it…).
Next weekend is the Sac-Town Throwdown, which is being held at the Placer County Fairgrounds in Roseville. This is a team competition that has drawn some big name athletes from all over Northern California in the past.
